    Mark DeAndrea

    President of Centrisys Renewables

    With more than 25 years of leadership experience in international manufacturing, operations, sales, corporate development, corporate finance, strategy, and innovation, DeAndrea leads efforts to develop, finance, and commercialize cutting-edge technology with the goal of reducing civilization’s environmental impact. Sustainability and safety are core tenets of his mission.

    DeAndrea is a partner at DS Octant, a management services company focused on leveraging and commercializing technology to reduce industrial manufacturing and agriculture’s impact on the environment. He develops and leads customer projects and technology commercialization in the renewable energy, biobased materials, and biobased chemicals industries, focused on converting waste streams into higher-value biobased products.

    Prior to DS Octant, DeAndrea was an executive leader at Domtar, one of the world’s largest pulp and paper producers. At Domtar, he started and headed the BioMaterials Business Unit. As the business unit leader, DeAndrea developed and deployed new technology to collect, convert, and sell pulp mill waste streams as higher-value downstream biobased chemicals and materials. He increased mill profits while significantly reducing the mill’s environmental impact, with the added benefit of replacing the use of fossil fuels. Domtar Biomaterials became the industry leader in Kraft Lignin (biobased polymers), Advanced Fibers, Cellulosic Sugars, Thermochemical Fuels, and Biobased Chemicals (Soap, CTO, Turpentine) under DeAndrea’s leadership.

    Prior to joining Domtar, DeAndrea was Senior Vice President of Strategic Development for POET, the largest biofuels producer globally. He created and managed the POET-DSM Advanced Biofuels joint venture. Prior to POET, DeAndrea held corporate finance and M&A senior executive leadership positions with RBC Capital and PricewaterhouseCoopers as well as the private equity firm Columbia Capital.
