Dr. Phillip Barak, is the CalPrex inventor and a co-founder of Nutrient Recovery & Upcycling where he serves as the Science Director and Senior Scientific Consultant. With 40 years of experience working with nutrient cycles, Dr. Barak has published more than 50 peer-reviewed publications, including the peer-reviewed CalPrex WRF report, edited two books and been awarded five patents for nutrient recovery, four in phosphorus and one in nitrogen. Dr. Barak is also a professor in the Department of Soil Science at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and has taught soil fertility, plant nutrition and nutrient management to over 500 undergraduate and graduate students. He is a licensed professional soil scientist, has served as an expert witness in legal proceedings and is a member of the Soil Science Society of America and the American Chemical Society. Dr. Barak’s skills in solution chemistry and modeling are a cornerstone of NRU’s foundation and promise for the future of the company. He graduated from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
A 10-year industry veteran, Josh Gable was promoted to Sales Director in 2020. Since 2010, he made a remarkable contribution to the company as a process engineer and regional sales manager. In his new role, Josh will focus on identifying areas for growth and advancements, establishing streamlined processes, and training regional sales managers. “I’ve always enjoyed the opportunity to take on unique challenges at Centrisys/CNP,” Gable said. “Now, I’m really excited to be engaged in sales outside the Midwest, getting a closer pulse on the diversity of our marketplace to help all the regions we serve to grow.” In addition to his sales and training leadership, Gable will assume responsibility for establishing greater marketplace diversity and expansion of regions served.
Jerry Strabel started his career by working for the company that built Centrisys’ first centrifuge scroll. Strabel joined the team in 2015 when Centrisys started its in-house machine shop with the idea to control product quality, help with delivery time and lower production costs. These benefits help not only the newly built centrifuges, but also the service department. With his 40+ years of experience, Strabel and his team pride themselves in the fact that since opening the machine shop, not one part needed to service a centrifuge has been outsourced; all parts are machined in-house. In 2018, the machine shop expanded by adding more lathes and mills. This expansion allows the machine shop team to double the amount of in-house machining. “My team give[s] the customer not only the best looking product, but the most precise [product] while saving the [customer] time and money with a quick turnaround,” Strabel says.
Dr. Dünnebeil’s industrial and municipal wastewater treatment career focuses on sludge treatment. In 2005, he founded PONDUS® Verfahrenstechnik GmbH and installed PONDUS in six German plants. In 2014, he began the partnership with Centrisys/CNP, who has exclusive U.S. distributorship. In 2015, Kenosha Water Utility, Wisconsin was the first U.S. installation and has won numerous awards and recognition for the technology. He earned his doctorate from the Technical University of Berlin.
While working as a business consultant, Jim Andresen quickly hit it off with Centrisys/CNP President and Founder, Michael Kopper, intrigued by the range of complex products and services Centrisys brings to market. The rest, as they say, is history.
Raeder started with Centrisys/CNP in 2011 where he introduced the Centrisys brand the Latin American market. With over 23 years of technical experience, he is a centrifuge expert and has experience with international installations. He is currently the Centrisys Centrifugas LTDA director in Brazil and a business manager for Vortecnica-Centrisys in Argentina. Raeder is proud to not only install Centrisys centrifuges in South America, but also provide service for all centrifuge brands.
In her 17-year wastewater industry career, Batchu held several positions: Process/Applications Engineer, Applications Engineering Manager, Product Manager and most recently seven years as the #Centrisys Applications Engineering Director. Committed to providing the best water and wastewater technologies to industrial and municipal customers, she joined the Centrisys/CNP team in 2014 and established the Applications Engineering department. As the director, her team supported the Sales Managers and provided the best value-added commercial solutions to the customers.
In her new role as Chief Operating Officer, Batchu is responsible for the overall operations of Centrisys/CNP and works with CEO and founder Michael Kopper, VP of Product Development George Kueppers, CFO Gary Stinson and other internal teams to implement the strategic vision and values of our organization.
She earned a Bachelors in Civil Engineering from Osmania University in India and a Masters in Environmental Engineering from Cleveland State University.
